Our Mission

We help people lose weight and improve their health eating in a scientifically proven way.

We know of too many people over the years that have struggled with their eating and weren't able to sustain it. And the reason is often because they follow extreme fad diets that have zero scientific evidence that they even work over the long-term.

People follow these types of diets to lose weight quickly, but often rebound when they find they can't continue eating that way. Whether that's because the food is boring, the rules are too complex or rigid or any other reason, these diets aren't built to be sustainable. And that's not right.

The Mediterranean diet is one of the most studied diets and is recommended by doctors and health professionals alike. And we want to make sure people follow these kinds of healthy, sustainable diets and make an actual lifestyle change, not just another pitfall on their weight loss journey.

Our History

Our team is made up of nutritionists and dieticians fed up of companies offering poorly researched nutritional guidance and fad diets and meal plans.

In 2016, our founder Alex Johnson was following the Mediterranean diet, but found a lot of the information online vague and the recipe books questionable, with dated guidance that didn't reference any scientific studies.

Frustrated by this, he set up Medmunch and started creating his own Mediterranean recipes and guides that used the latest research.

Since then over 30,000+ people have used our Mediterranean meal plans to hit their weight goals and transform their health — all whilst cooking delicious, Mediterranean-style recipes that fit into their lifestyle.

Our Values When Following the Mediterranean Diet

Make food enjoyable

One of the biggest precursors to healthy long-term eating and not just a short-term fix is actually enjoying the food. And you don't need to be a gourmet chef to do this, just some simple basics that make your food delicious, yet healthy.

Follow scientifically proven guidance

Most ‘fad’ diets aren’t recommended by health professionals because the scientific studies show they are often an unhealthy way of eating. Even if there are impressive before and after pictures, you should also remember that was only one point in time, with no indication of their mental or physical health, or whether they stayed like that.

Focus on replacing habits, not just restrictions

Whether that’s fats, calories, carbohydrates, most diets focus on what you can restrict, rather than what delicious, healthy alternatives you can add. Restricting foods outright doesn't help the alternative foods they are eating aren't satisfying enough, so let's focus on that!
